BOTANICAL DESCRIPTION
The trunks of the engkalak tree grow up to 10 meters tall. The fruits are pink-green in color and grow in bunches along the tree branches.
HABITAT
Native in Southeastern Asian regions as far north as Taiwan. It grows along rivers and hillsides with sandy to clay soils.

The flavor and texture is of a herby, watery avocado.
COMMON USE
Engkalak is eaten both raw or cooked, needing little else but salt. Pickles are made from unripe fruits.
