The pisang abu tree is taller than the average banana tree, with large bunches of bananas.

Year-round, with a peak fruiting season between October to November.
TASTE/AROMA
When still green, it tastes faintly like cucumber. Can be eaten raw when yellow, but as it is still quite starchy, is usually used as a cooking banana instead.
COMMON USE
Made into banana chips or banana fritters.
USE IN DEWAKAN
Pisang abu is shallow fried in yogurt whey and served with mussels.
