TASTE/AROMA
Gives a strong scent not unlike the scent of the Pentatomoidea family of insects (hence its common name 'kesing'). When cooked, the flavor is reminiscent of onions.
COMMON USE
Used as a substitute for onions by some Orang Asli groups. Made into sambal, which is the local name for chili-centric condiments.
USE IN DEWAKAN
Semomok is combined with other aromatics and steeped into a broth.
