Grows as a creeping plant across the ground with downy leaves. The tubers are small, similar to fingerling potatoes. However, it is not botanically related to the common true potato.
HABITAT
Grows wild, especially in swampland. Rarely planted as a monocrop, and usually found in small plots or beds. In Malaysia, it is especially found where there are significant Javanese communities in Johor, Perak, Selangor, and Sarawak.

Fainty sweet peanutty taste and aroma when boiled.
COMMON USE
Boiled or stir-fried in various dishes across Asian cuisines.
USE IN DEWAKAN
Thinly sliced ubi kemili is stir-fried with cendawan busut vinegar.
